Uncertainty is a word that doesn't seem to have a good or bad connotation so I think uncertainty is fine. Mystery is another way to look at things. That's a little bit more exciting and and suspenseful. Life would be boring if you knew everything that was supposed to happen to you.
Thank you for pointing that out. I think there can sometimes be an invisible negative connotation to it. Mystery is infinitely better! Have a great weekend, Zina!
I remember starting my Substack with a lot of uncertainty. After a month of writing, I felt the uncertainty grow even stronger. But then it was reassuring to see more engagement on my posts, which reassured me that there are readers interested in my work. Growth is non-linear and gradual. Keep writing. Those who will be interested in your work will find you. I'm glad I found you!
I, too, would like to go to the land with thousands of subscribers. I think every writer, on here or otherwise, does. It's a dream come true - to talk, and to be listened to. To be appreciated, perhaps even anticipated with delight. I know it takes time and effort, a lot of work that seems like unpaid labor at worst and practice at best, and everywhere I look the porcupine is there. But maybe the porcupine isn't so bad, at least I now know he won't shoot quills at me! If I leave him alone, he'll live me alone, and maybe I'll make some room for him in my tent that I set up along this journey!

"Uncertainty is the necessary companion of all explorers."
Thanks, Mike! That's a good one for me to remember whenever my perfectionism is convincing me that all uncertainty is terrible.

Thanks for the encouragement, Nadia!

Haha, that’s the spirit! Making room for the porcupine to come along for the journey! Thank you for your comment.
