So many circlings. Yet I’m not far enough in to see what is being revealed, how all the fragments piece together. Yet. Congrats on your publication acceptance. How exciting!
Sasha, yes! So many circlings- if there's an image that is almost a constant, it's that one. The small circles of today, the larger ones spanning lifetimes and generations. There's a painting by Gustave Caillebotte that you may have seen- I am adding the link here because I think of this picture all the time- https://www.wikiart.org/en/gustave-caillebotte/the-yerres-rain.
Grettings Priya! Congrats on your writing acceptance! I so love your ability to create vivid images in my mind of not only what you're seeing, but also what you're feeling and thinking. The "amber carpet made the room too hot." You are a gifted author.
When my life calms a bit, I want to consider your query carefully: What have I always known... ? I've the sense that my deep self has glazed over like paint in a can that was closed hurriedly, carelessly. I hope soon I'll have an opportunity to once again stir that self and rediscover who I was once becoming.
Richard, it is always good to hear from you! Thank you. It is lovely to geek out on writing and words - I am happy you picked up on the amber and the heat. "Who I was once becoming"- that is so poetic. Because who we think we are becoming, who we become, nothing is static, always ever changing.
Priya, I really enjoyed this. The rock changing each day was such a simple but powerful way to show how our perspective changes. I also liked how you described setting up your writing room, it reminded me that sometimes we're more ready than we think. Your ending left me thinking about my own journey, which is always the sign of a good piece.
Tinashe, thank you. You really captured that feeling with 'we are more ready than we think.' And perhaps the change has been happening all along and we thought it's new.
Michael, thank you. I am slowly learning how to write movement into the essay and sometimes, it works. I wanted to create that feeling of small journeys and large journeys and so I am glad some of it came through. Thank you for reading, engaging, and sharing!
What a lovely meditation on timing, place, and the mysterious way our lives seem to circle back on themselves. I especially loved the rock—it became such a powerful companion through the essay. Congratulations on your journal acceptance, and many blessings on your new home too♥️🙏🕊️ (I'm curious if you're still in the States...)
Enjoy your new home, Priya.
Thank you, Jeanine!

Congratulations on your essay being accepted for a journal. Your writing is evocative, I enjoy reading your posts.
On your new home too! Wishes for your new home and new beginnings💙
Thank you, Archana! Sometimes, I think about how we have known each other through our writing and yet, have never met. Raising a virtual cup of chai!

“There is a rock I know.” — that line may be my favourite sentence I’ve read to start a piece!
And everything that came after it was equally beautiful.
I noticed a lot of short, punchy sentences in this Priya and I feel like it worked really well to set a tone.
Also, congrats on you essay being accepted! Yay! :)

It definitely came through.
Thanks Priya :)

Thank you, Camilla. Yes, that's where I live.
